Please join us at Waterloo Elementary for a short presentation about our district wide, anti-bullying program. Various classrooms and teachers from Waterloo Elementary will present short videos demonstrating the examples of bullying AND also include the consequences should a student continue with mean and hurtful behavior toward other students.
The Dekalb Central School district has an anti-bullying program in place at all of our schools. Waterloo Elementary staff and students follow the Olweus program, with the hope that all students will have a safe and bully free environment. Our school's anit-bullying rules are the following...
1. We will not bully others.
2. We will try to help students who are bullied.
3. We will try to include students who are left out.
4. If we know that somebody is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school and an adult at home.
If a student is being bullied or being a bully, an adult will intervene with a "Learning Slip." This slip states what the issue was and will be reported to the classroom teacher and parent. The student involved will have a recess/lunch detention and have to complete a writing assignment,"Think Sheet," to understand what was inappropriate and how to make a better choice.
