Talia Pelo, left, and Rayah Carnahan, right, play together Tuesday during the first day of a new preschool program offered by the DeKalb Central school district. The program is housed at Waterloo Elementary School and is funded by a $300,000 grant from the Rick L. and Vicki L. James Foundation. Fifteen children are enrolled in the morning session. An afternoon session will begin Sept. 22, and a few places still remain available. DeKalb Central school district residents who have questions about the program or who are interested in receiving more information may contact preschool director Sherry Crisp-Ridge at Waterloo Elementary School, 920-1016.
